Summar Lyons is an international education and youth leadership professional with more than a decade of experience designing and managing global exchange programs for young people.
Summar is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who lived and worked in Costa Rica, where she supported youth-focused community programs and gained firsthand experience navigating cultural immersion, language learning, and local partnership building. She has since led U.S. Department of Stateāsupported international exchanges and youth programs working closely with educators, families, and international partners to ensure programs are safe, well-supervised, and developmentally appropriate.
As Program Director of the Guatemala Leadership & Language Exchange, Summar is responsible for overall program leadership and accountability. She oversees program design, curriculum development, student and educator recruitment, partner coordination, and on-the-ground implementation. She ensures that students are supported before, during, and after travel, with clear structures in place for safety, communication, and student well-being.
